Re: In North Qld

We used to have 002 Sherlock and 003 Olive Oil on the forum some time ago. These were both Melbourne boats. Of interest 013 (with no name) was last listed as being in Townsville.
The last Investigator was supposed to be sail number 172 but since then No 179 Molly Bloom showed up in WA.

Re: Wobble Wheels

Here I was thinking that I am not embracing new technology quickly enough but all along I'm leading the pack. Its nice to know that my boat is probably the most technologically advanced on the forum.

Re: The Last Investigator

Another welcome from me. Its great to see when a boat you see for sale pops up on the forum. I hope you have many fun times and adventures aboard Molly. I guess I didn't look closely enough at the photos on the advertisement. The front hatch has been "upgraded" from a single hinge sometime...

Wobble Wheels

I'm probably the last Investigator owner to fit a set of wobble wheels to my trailer. A few years ago I mounted some wobble wheels to help guide the keel along the centre of the keel rollers. These were simply attached by welding a bolt to the top of the roller axle support. The idea worked well eno...

Re: Boat Names

Geoff, Sorry about the double listing. I started a spreadsheet years ago to keep track of Investigators that popped up on forums or in advertisements. I must have come across yours twice and added it to the list without realising it. One day I'll do a bit of house work and clean up the entries. I've...

The Last Investigator

I always thought that the last Investigator built has sail number 172 but there is currently one for sale in Western Australia with sail number 179. I can't see why someone would put the incorrect number on a sail so this could be the real deal. The stated build date in the ad is 1977 which is befor...

Re: Mast Question.

Ian, I'll take that as a compliment. I'm actually a grandfather these days, and with nearly 40 years in the job, am looking forward to retirement in the very near future. I'm pretty sure that my mast is a straight section but it doesn't weigh much. As you pointed out, the hardest part in raising the...
