Re: Lake Illawarra

Looks like a nice ramp and that's a fair bit of wind did you reduce sail, reef main No2 jib, or manage with full sail up?

Re: Main Anchor, chain and rode specifications

That's a fair sized kedging Danforth,

I went out and tested Terias main anchor, it's a good size and weight to handle now. Set well and didn't drag in 15 knot winds. May need to upsize my kedging danforth tho..

Re: Quick and simple mast stand for under $20

Nice work Pete, makes it neater to stow and easier to work on I'm thinking if making a mast stand to go in the aft end of Terias cockpit, perhaps with a roller on top..your design gives some ideas. We need ours because of a low bridge across the river mouth. launch with mast down get past the bridge...

Re: Main Anchor, chain and rode specifications

Thanks for the anchor info everyone. I've rigged 7m of 6 mm chain to the 10 mm diam anchor warp. Now the CQR plough can fit into the anchor locker due to the reduced bulk of the chain. :-) The stern anchor , trying a small 4 lb Danforth i had, it has 4m of 5mm chain and 8mm warp. It stows in the por...

Main Anchor, chain and rode specifications

Any thoughts on what's the optimal range of sizes used for the main anchor , chain and rode on Investigators.? My main anchor chain is currently really heavy stuff, 8 mm with links 28x46mm which won't even fit in the anchor roller (assume its a standard roller, there's a custom stainless rub plate p...

Re: Whisker Pole

Hi Geoff, I don't know if my whisker pole is regulation or not (or if it's even a spinnaker pole, but looks too small for that) but it is very old so could be an original. It is made of 25 mm aluminium tube 1800 mm long with fico push on end fittings , which increase it's length to 1940 mm between t...

Re: Flying a Genoa Jib

G'day Ian, Thanks for the u-tube videos, they add an extra dimension to learning about new things on the i563 Your new genoa really gets light wind hull speed up. Discovered that Teria came with a wire luff lightweight drifter genoa (i thought it was conventional spinnaker at first) . It hoists with...
