Re: Pop-top problem
Geoff My boat has 3 screw-down locks, and from another thread on here I believe others have also. There is a lock either side of the companionway and one in the centre at the front. They are best described as a bolt, with a large knurled nut, which hinges down from the poptop and slots into an angle...

Re: Where can I buy toerail
The MAN for toe rail is Alan Guile at Guile Marine Accessories in Normanhurst Sydney - yes freight may be a problem but he will have an answer. I used the Adams 10 toerail which Alan drilled to my specs (the slot punching was already done). This rail has a deck flange and then a turned down outer ed...

Re: Topside cleaning - advice please
I use proprietary "gel coat restorer" which is an acid. My boat lives in freshwater and gets a brown stain for about 250mm up the hull so 2-3 times a year just wipe the stuff on and rinse off in five. Definitely agree with a pressure wash to start. Also remember that the original waxed sur...

Re: What have you done with the space under the V Berth?
When I say the area between the v berth isn't sealed it does have a screw down panel. Similar to Yara I have a 50 l flexi tank forward with a pump in the starboard locker - this feeds the sink in that locker and a shower on the transom. Be aware that pumps use a lot of power so you need to take that...

Re: What have you done with the space under the V Berth?
Under the forward (v) berth in the centre is the flexible 50litre Fresh water tank with the filler in the anchor locker. On either side are quite deep lockers which contain spare clip-on covers and lines, which are not used often, such as rear panel for the sun awning and the foredeck rain cover for...

Re: Furling Jib
The system on the Careel was designed(and originally manufacturered)by the late Geoff Nelson the owner of C18 no.12. It came about because the only furler available at the time was too light for the halyard pressure applied to the top swivel and as a result the sail just twisted at the bottom. The s...

2 prong plug may be to connect lighting coil/charger on the motor to your electrics. It also may not connect to your current o/b but to a previous one?
