Mine is mounted in the starboard cockpit locker against the cockpit side. The outlet is in the transom so the suction, which is in the bilge next to centreboard case, is inline with the pump and outlet. That's where it was when I bought it and I thought operation would be awkward but its fine

The last pic is the set up. There's a hole in the lid with a plastic grommet surround to allow you to put finger thru to release latch. Might add that when I went to replace the grommet I couldn't find anywhere so just used bung surround and reamed thread out. The original was probably a PNP brand f...

I used the Biege Hull Liner from Whitworths - 2M wide and 39.95/m. Remember a liner prevents condensation whereas paint/flowcoat doesn't insulate.As you have found stripping is the worst job.
