Re: The tiller hits my knee - what can be done?

Just buy a short length of aluminium channel, and two bolts, and you can convert to a lifting tller. The cut/hinge is in the cockpit, so it does not interfere with the traveller.

Re: The tiller hits my knee - what can be done?

Welcome back Darren. I have managed to move your post to the technical forum, where you might get more replies. The original I563 rudder/tiller design was not one of its strong points. Hence there are many "after market" designs". Yara has a pivoting tiller which can be lifted above t...

Re: I563 at Eden NSW

My hazy photo taken through the bus window looks like an aluminium mast.

I563 at Eden NSW

Ship stopped at Eden on the way to Tassie. Quick run around on the tour bus, which pulled in briefly at the Eden (Twofold Bay) Yacht club. Couldn't get out of the bus (stopped too long at the pub on the other side of the Bay), but I think I spotted an Investigator 563 on a mooring, with a blue sail ...

Re: My Sydney to Hobart and Merry Xmas

Its the fashion lately to say "Me Too", so the wif and I are off this weekend on the same trip. Stop-off at Eden to make the trip longer on a cruise liner.
Cheers

Kevin Shepherd Designs

OK, I confess. For some time I have been lusting after a bigger boat. The criteria include an integral keel, and a size somewhere between 24 and 30 ft. And maybe a long keel, and standing headroom. Enclosed toilet for the ladies. I have looked at lots of boats, and every time come back to how well d...

Re: Investigator 823 ??

Good to see you post again Robert. That one is a weird version of the Marauder 27 (AKA 823). By the same designer as the Investigator, so it is a compliment to the little Investigator that the vendor changed the name. One-off special builds are always a bit of a worry, but a junk rig is well proven,...

Re: are you going to have a sail over Xmas ? 2017

I have a feeling that these centreboard casing cracks are a result of launch/retrieve in shallow submersion, and not using the trailer tilt. Without the tilt, the almost entire weight of the boat can pivot on the end roller, and that is a lot of compression on one spot. So my rule is use the tilt- o...

Ray, Chatting to the guy who runs the Compass group, he mentioned that the boat registration number is a good way to track a boat with multiple name changes. As long as the boat is not moved interstate, that number stays the same.

Re: Cockpit access hatch.

If you read the fine print in the ad it says the hatch is not waterproof, and not suitable for deck use. I would not cut into the deck, as you are likely to introduce leaks. My row of tubs can be slid completely out. Maybe the answer is to do that, and put them on the deck when you need easy access....
