Winter Sail - A delightful activity

All Yesterday I took Aminee for a dip. For sure the water was 14C but the day was pleasant and local air temps about 20C. Here is a small video as we got the 11.30am breeze (6-7 kts) which had just set, it was an ENE but played with us a bit during the day. This vid sequence I filmed standing in the...

Re: mooring a 563

Well Ozzie, I have been lucky to have a mast-up facility 300m from launching ramp so those wear and tear issues and not such a concern. I must say its so much easier and quicker getting on the water with such a setup. However I often think it would be nice to arrive at the marina, step on board and ...

Re: Winch cable alternatives.

Ozzie
I bought a new winch a while back and immediately replaced the strapping with Dymena, it has strengrh of the steel cable or exceeds it but reduces friction on the drum and does not fray like steel

Re: mooring a 563

Terrific post Ozzie, lot of great info and you have convinced me not to pursue my plan of summer mooring - its all too much for a few weeks per year and I like my clean boat bottom the way it is.

Cheers

First sail for 2016

All

Finally got the first sail of the year in on Tuesday - ramp was finally clear, and sailing conditions very mild, mainly a SE wind and sailed at no more than 2-3 kts but three of us got on the water and it was a nice intro into 2016.

Painting the hull

All I am planning for the distinct possibility of painting the hull of Aminee later this year. I have a good place to keep the boat while these operations take place, but need advice on they types of paint best used and number of coats etc. I have read of many different approaches. I prefer to use s...
