Re: USEFUL STUFFS

Aldi have their ropes on sale this Saturday the 27th. Seems good value for 20 plus metres depending on type. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve had several brands of knockoff coremantle rope out in the elements on the mooring and it is ok for non critical use. Check prices against the green shed to see i...

Re: Electric yachts - the future?

In keeping with the electric power possibilities for boats you have to follow the market trends so I think this article translates ultimately to boats as well. Re: Merry Xmas 2023

We had some nice days on the boat over the break while daughter mk2 was home from UK . Seeing more and more of these hand held foils on the Lake now . The thing that is amazing from a straight physics of sailing thing, to me anyway, is how little wind there was, as you can see by the water surface o...

Re: Bucket bath and showers

Good comparison Andrew. I agree the big thing is speed of getting your water hot. I think if we are overnight we’ll have the explodo butane for use in the cockpit on board for bbq and water heating. Use the metho in the cabin. As I’ve mentioned before it’s a shame you can’t tap into the heat exchang...

Re: Bucket bath and showers

Speaking of simplicity Andrew , I thought as a stove aficionado you might find this Aussie invention on YouTube interesting. It’s a super simple refinement of the soup can alcohol stove of which there are a thousand designs.

Re: Bucket bath and showers

They do look pretty good Andrew and endless . I did have one of those fold flat black solar shower bags but they were pretty heavy when full and needed to be up pretty high. Also mine disintegrated after a while which is a strange attribute for a solar bag  The bottle one is just a convenient s...

Re: Bucket bath and showers

Great idea for a thread Andrew. As Andrew has covered, I’ve tried sleeping on the boat just after only a salt swim and it’s just not comfortable as most people are aware. I’ve heard you can use cheap hair conditioner as body wash with seawater but sounds yuk to me and I’d not convince Mrs Ozzie on t...

Re: Baking bread on board.

Yep, he certainly enjoyed his boat to the max Andrew. I’ve only every run out of water once, on a motorcycle trip to K’gari (Fraser Is.) mid 70s. It had been raining heavily and we harvested rainwater off puddles on the sand near Indian Head. Wood was too damp to get a fire going to boil and purify ...
