A useful tool indeed.

For curved surfaces, I bought this tool from ebay. You push it up against the surface and the contour stays on the protruding pins. It is useful to define awkward shapes that are in hard to get at places. The tools come in different sizes.

There is a copy Australian Boating on ebay at the moment which features an Investigator on the cover. Someone might like this for their collection. I bought them elsewhere, but they are the same as the ones from Whitworths. (I have since seen them at Bunnings.) They come in black or white.
No problem so far. I think that they would hold up in the sun as they are designed for tonneau covers.
