Re: Failure to launch and bridle solution
Phil Carr has an interesting way of launching his Investigator. He adds another rope to the bow rope which is effectively double normal length. He shoves the boat off as normal and due to friction by the time the rope gets tight the boat has pretty much stopped moving. He then casually strolls aroun...

Hi Ian.
Thanks for that, makes sense, I will give that a go. The piston hanks are not cheap.

Hi Guys. Before I ask my question would also like to add my thanks for Ian for keeping this site running and hope that all have had a good xmas period. It's been crap weather around the Bay so far this so-called summer and have yet to get the boat in the water but hope to do so this week. Anyway, I'...

Hi Ozzie
I was advised by my insurance agent - Professional Insurance brokers (Melb) to insure for $10k. They suggested that would be a realistic replacement value.

Re: Mast Fittings, Sheaves and Halyards
I have both halyards running through the mast. This is based on Phil Carr's set-up which works really well. I installed a new exit block for the jib halyard just under the forestay hound. i also installed 2 exit blocks offset in height as to not weaken the mast. See attached photos of both Phils set...

Re: Internet users and NBN
wow. That is impressive. I work in video production from my home studio and I'm continually dealing with large files. For example yesterday uploaded a 400MB video clip to a client. Took for ever. I hope NBN gets to Elsternwick before I retire.

Re: Internet users and NBN
I have had ADSL2 for a while through iinet. Recently noticed that my download speed has dropped from a very good 12mbps to 7.6mbps. Damn streaming movies. I think the connection box is reasonably close - maybe within half a K. Anyway, it still connects to our house through 40 year old copper wire vi...

Re: Advice for a potential future 563 owner
One thing to really check out is the trailer. Something I was not aware of when I bought my boat. I have been blessed/cursed with a tandem trailer. Recently spent $1500 on new axles, wheels/tyres and brakes... ouch. Also trying to figure out what to do with the carpeted interior - some thing to defi...
