Re: outboard motors

Hello Peter, the power to weight ratio will always advantage the 2st. Is your 8hp Yammy a 2 cylinder? If so it will be as smooth running as a single cylinder 4st but with the oil fumes. The good ol' 2st are bullet proof so maybe keep him as a spare. I have a 5hp Merc' 4st (which came with the boat) ...

Re: Another centre board removal question.

Well the job's completed, picked up the aluminium CB this arvo and a few hours later she's in. I placed a neoprene suspension bush in the pivot hole and laminex as spacers, as per the above link from Ian. Looking from underneath, the CB cavity had a few small cracks located at the fore and aft end o...

Re: Another centre board removal question.

Hi all, pulled out the CB and it was beyond repair. Have taken the old one down to an aluminium bloke at Brookvale, he has quoted me $140 for a duplicate cut in 10mm aluminium. A bargain I reckon! Can anyone advise me about the spacers, can I use laminex? Also the pivot bolt, should I use sikaflex o...

Re: Another centre board removal question.

Thanks Yara, I've seen your posts and have learned from you. Did you do the CB or do you know where it was fabricated. I guess when I pull it out I'll just take it down to one of these aluminium blokes and get it coppied. Does your spectra line extend to and attach directly onto the CB or does it at...

Re: Storage and use of space

Emrys, yep, got you now. Good thinking, not Swiss are you? I've re-stuck my floor with sikaflex so it'll be hard to get up again. Just extracted my centre board pivot bolt, should have done it with the floor out! Anyway, next job is my CB as per my post. So I might skip the convertible V berth/table...

Re: Storage and use of space

Hello Emrys, yes I plagerised your good work. Regarding your referal to "reversing the cabin floor", I'm not quite with you there, did you pull the actual floor up, is it not symmetrical? I had mine up too, am I misreading it? Thanks too for the info on the portable table, in regards to th...

Another centre board removal question.

After inspecting my I563's centre board from underwater I have decided to pull it out for either replacement or refurb'. I have read over the information on the site and have begun by chiseling away and extracting the pivot bolt. So next step is to jack-up the boat in situ on the trailer, block it u...

Re: Storage and use of space

Hello Kev, good choice in boats, I'm new to my I563 too. Regarding storage and under the cockpit specifically. I found an image on this site where someone had joined 3 rectangular buckets together which then slid up aft from within the cabin under the cockpit. One row of buckets on each side of the ...

Old Investigator)563 site

I found a link to the old Investigator)563 site. I don't know if it's view much but it has some good little things in it. The Stats page I found interesting.
