Re: Centreboard Removal
Hi ian, have a look at these mate. received_138534741470841.jpeg shows how flogged out my holes in the centreboard case was. you can see here the recess in the fibreglass where originally there was a rubber seal fitted in there to try and seal around the bolt. they were fitted from inside of the cav...

Re: Centreboard Removal
Hi Ian, you are doing a great job. Just remember that the thing that wears out the bushes around the pivot bolt and the holes in the sides of the centreboard case is sideways movement of the centreboard port to starboard, so it is vital that those thrust washers each side of the centreboard are larg...

Re: Bunks or rollers
Thanks Ozzie, yes I will have to lower at least the back of the bunks if not both front and back as there is not much " swivel " in them but that should not be too much of a hassle.

Re: Bunks or rollers
Hi all. I thought I would update this post with how I improved on my bunks. I used thin 3 ply builders bracing ply. I bent up 6 pieces of steel 20mm x 5 mm to fit the hull at equal distances along the length of the bunk. Covered the hull with hot house plastic for protection. Adjusted the original b...

Re: Centreboard Removal
For mine, I turned up a nylon washer and a nylon cap that fits over both the head of the bolt as well as over the nut and fitted them with Silastic. Then I laid one layer of fibreglass over that on each side. If removal is required again at a later time, the layer of glass can be chiselled off again...

Re: Check your thu-hulls
As you may know, I removed the lead each side of the centreboard case to make the fibreglass repairs on the inside bottom of my keel. When I re - fitted the lead, the space around the lead got the expanding foam treatment before being epoxy fibreglassed over that. There will never be water in my low...

Re: Showcase your Investigator
What a difference three years can make. And I thought it would take 6 months. Hate to think how many dollars it has taken. Let's not even go there.

Re: Toe Rail Repair
Hi all, long time since previous post on toe rail repair, but given enough time, things eventually happen. Well, after having the winter off working on the boat and enjoying the warmth and sun in Qld, it's been several days of hard work, but I am more than happy with how the teak toe rails came up a...
