Botany Bay 06-04-2015
This is our first time out proper sailing. Bit of a learning curve but we figured it out as the day went on. Almost no wind in the morning, plenty enough in the afternoon and made it out of the water just in time for the storm in the evening. This is about 6hrs of GOPRO footage squeezed down to 5 mi...

Re: Investigator number 10
I think my investigator can safely be locked away at number 10 - on closer look it did originally have (1) center hinge (see photo). I looked for the design award plate but the inside has been painted a few times. I think the smoking gun (for which i have posted a separate topic) is the 40 years wor...

Removing paint from gelcoat antislip surface
Has anyone had to remove several layers of paint (4 if I had to guess) from the gelcoat anti slip surface? I'm hoping (praying) there is an easy way to do this. From the picture it looks like it started as factory blue, then vomit yellow, then Manly Ferry green and for the grand finale was painted (...

Re: Investigator number 10
Hi Greg It will be in the 100s because wagtail is 72 and it only has a single hinge on the front hatch Regards Ross Hi Ross - I think my front hatch has had additional work done to it. See the photos it doesn't look standard, has 4 strange long bolts for something? Are these the original hinges? Ch...

Re: Investigator number 10
Once Greg, we were tracking down how many investigators we had on the forum by number. If we ever get the lot and are missing one between 100 and 109 odd or whatever it is we will allocate you that number  Also someone once said the number was under the design award plate! Do you have one? Edi...

Re: Investigator number 10
It has 2 hinges on the hatch and your right it has skinny windows too. The main sail looks like its has a few repairs, maybe it was supposed to be 10x i.e 101 or 102. Rego says it was built in 1977. She might be a bitzer! Either way its not going to effect how much fun the family have on it. Can't b...

Investigator number 10
Hi there,
Ive just bought my first investigstor and it is sail number 10. The guy I bought it off had got it from a broker and knew nothing about its history. I was wondering if anyone here would know anything about it?

Re: Looking to buy.
Im also looking at buying an investigator,
Is there any other major issues to look for other than a jammed/rusted centerboard?
Also do they have any indicators on them to show the production number, year of manufacture etc?
Thanks in advance!
