Re: type of swage sleeve?
TDK, It does seem strange to have two Investigators with the same sail number. I had a look through some old Investigator photos where you can see the sail. The numbers on the alternate sides of the sail are close together and look more like my sail than yours. Also, the Investigator Logo on the top...

Re: New member
Flip, another welcome from me.
There are at least 6 Investigators that I know of in Tassie.
What is the name of your boat? How about a picture? I might be able to match it to some old photos I have.

Re: Retirement Project
I like the look of the original wooden toerails on the investigator and wanted to duplicate these. I think that the original wood was maple or maybe silky oak, neither of which is readily available in my area. The problem is finding a suitable timber in the length required as the major suppliers hav...

Re: Retirement Project
My first task was a thorough clean of the deck and hull. My waterblaster does a good job removing most of the dirt but this time I wanted to bring a bit of lustre back to the fibreglass. I haven’t found a good product for removing stains on fibreglass so I used the same technique that I use for poli...

Re: Investigator For Sale in Cairns
I spoke to Andrew in Cairns about his boat. He did not know the name or sail number but said he would try to find out and list the details in the ad if he did. He said he only had the boat for a few months and purchased it in Townsville. This was the second Investigator he had owned having previousl...

Investigator For Sale in Cairns
Gumtree is listing an Investigator for sale in Cairns. It looks like a good, original, unmolested example with a decent motor and trailor. The price has recently dropped from $7,400 to $6,700.
I'll try and find out a few more details.

Re: Retirement Project
No vents in the roof but insulation under the iron. With the high roof, heat build up isn't an issue. Here is a picture of the finished shed.

Retirement Project
One of my goals for retirement was to use my Investigator more. I haven’t had it in the water for the last couple of years and hadn’t used it much before that. It was looking the worse for wear so a spruce up was definitely in order. I park (moor) the boat in the backyard where it is exposed to the ...
