My new trailer cost me around $4000 which included all materials except wheels and tyres and also included galvanising. But no allowance for labour.
Hope this helps anyone who may be thinking about building one.

Re: Painting your boat.
My choice of paint for almost anything, especially on my boat is Norglass. First, second and third. Only drawback is the need for breathing apparatus, but if you have that, then I have found nothing that beats it.

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair
Good Job Andrew. Main thing of course to to ensure the core has fully dried out before doing it. Injecting epoxy into water would be no good at all. Constant warmth and air flow is what's required. Not too much pressure but enough to blow the water out and dry it over time. I would never use thicken...

Re: Cabin Heating
In my last boat, a 25 ft modified Roberts keel boat, I had a fully gimbled 2 burner gas stove. I used to use a clay pot turned upside down over one of the burners with the gas set to low. Always had ventilation as well as a gas detector and never used it when sleeping, but my word it heated the boat...

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair
Well done Andrew. What I did was to make little plugs out of about 3/4 inch long pieces of 1/4 inch dowel sharpened at one end by filing to a point one end in the chuck of a drill or lathe. These were removed after the epoxy went off enough not to be runny but before it set completely. Then I filled...

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair
Hi Andrew, that's a great idea. What I did was everywhere there is a bolt, I drilled out the bolt hole about half as much again, used gorilla tape on the under side and then filled the bolt holes with epoxy. Then re drilled the correct hole size through the epoxy. The idea is to have epoxy completel...
