Re: Cabin Heating

In my last boat, a 25 ft modified Roberts keel boat, I had a fully gimbled 2 burner gas stove. I used to use a clay pot turned upside down over one of the burners with the gas set to low. Always had ventilation as well as a gas detector and never used it when sleeping, but my word it heated the boat...

Re: Mast step position

Also, on another post I put on here is a link to a very good video on U tube regarding testing of various methods of core repair. Well worth a read. Also check out my posts on mast step repair. It's a fiddles job but well worth a look if you have soft core or cracking around the mast step. In fact, ...

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair

Well done Andrew. What I did was to make little plugs out of about 3/4 inch long pieces of 1/4 inch dowel sharpened at one end by filing to a point one end in the chuck of a drill or lathe. These were removed after the epoxy went off enough not to be runny but before it set completely. Then I filled...

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair

Hi Andrew, that's a great idea. What I did was everywhere there is a bolt, I drilled out the bolt hole about half as much again, used gorilla tape on the under side and then filled the bolt holes with epoxy. Then re drilled the correct hole size through the epoxy. The idea is to have epoxy completel...

Soft Deck core

Hi all I have posts on here regarding soft deck core repairs. Recently, I found a very interesting U Tube video on that very subject. See below, a link to it. https://youtu.be/qIytOVWaprg?si=btbuEj4HL1TkreEm It is important to get the core as dry as you can before injecting epoxy if that is the way ...

Re: Soft Core and Mast Step Repair

Hi Andrew, hav a link for you to watch on U tube regarding fixing soft core of deck. Very worth while a look. https://youtu.be/qIytOVWaprg?si=btbuEj4HL1TkreEm Most important is to get it as dry as possible before injecting with epoxy. Re: Beaching an investigator.

Hi Ross, although some do beach their 563's, my advice through my experience with mine would be to be very careful if you do so. When I bought mine and parked it in my garage on its trailer, water dripped out from around the centre board opening for about 3 months. The whole keel area was completely...

Re: Transducer location

Hi mate. I fitted a transom mounted sounder sender unit to mine just below the boarding ladder. I have it folded up when the boat is on the trailer and it's an easy thing to lean over the transom to fold it down if you forget to do it prior to launching and as Andrew said, I have used the oil filled...
