Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

Well I thought I’d update everyone about open water Kiama trip or lack there of haha. I did however go sailing on Jervis bay (not the first time) just this Wednesday in larger swell that was produced from the strong winds the day before, about 50km/h+ from the SE. This swell enters the mouth of Jerv...

Re: Sleeping on the investigator

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I’ll just have to pick my days at this spot and the night cap idea sounds like a winner too ;) Other than that, sailing the bay during the day and returning to the safety of the mangroves for the evening might be the best course of action. I’ll probably just have ...

Re: Sleeping on the investigator

Thanks Andrew, I have a 15lb CQR and 8m of chain and the anchor only just fits in the locker haha. What size CQR do you have and where do you keep it? That’s a good point about having full chain, I think knowing it’s overkill would help give peace of mind not to mention the rope always slackens and ...

Re: Hinchinbrook Island, North Qld

Thanks Andrew for the blog, I red the whole island adventure and it gives me more confidence in overnighting on my investigator :)

Gotta say I’m tempted to ditch the old 2 stroke for fuel and peace of mind reasons (she’s from ‘87 I think)

Sleeping on the investigator

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve posted however the sailing has continued! :D More recently my partner and I have been overnighting on the boat. One of those times was in middle harbour Sydney (scary) on a courtesy ball where we came extremely close to hitting the neighbouring cruising catamar...

Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

Well this topic has been sitting on 99 replies for too long! If weather permits I may be taking Tikirri out into open water tomorrow, I’ve got some flares and all other requirements. The wind looks tame and so does the swell but if I’m not feeling up to it then we won’t be going but hopefully ...

Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

Hey Bill, I was just googling invesigator 563 on YouTube and saw your two videos yesterday! Look forward to seeing more.

Sounds like some dodgy welding mate, good luck with that!

Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

Thanks so much, that’s exactly what I was looking for! I think I’ll probably be getting one of the 30W panels (or similar dimensions and mounting it like yours 8-) We don’t have a fridge and I don’t think we’ll get one so that should do it for charging our very efficient little laptop, phones and li...

Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

Wow that looks exactly like what I want :o You gotta tell me where you got those mounting clamps from!

Please show us some photos of your trip too, I’m really interested to see how you go. Every day I look at the open ocean and think I’m sure my little boat could handle that

Re: #90 Tikirri is back!

2 Batteries sounds like the go! By the way, AGM and Gel batteries are actually different :)

I’m really interested to see how you mount the solar panel, I’d really like to mount a 30W one on the side of the push pit rail and have it fold down for trailering and storage :?:
