Re: i563 For Sale $6950 - Batemans Bay
G'Day Ray I must have missed your question in the rush of moving to US. The HIN for Whispering Wind was AUWWA016371CL6 (according to my insurance records anyway). It was sail number 144, sold on through a broker in 2017 (I don't know new name or whereabouts of boat). Great little boat and I will loo...

i563 For Sale $6950 - Batemans Bay
Hello again Sadly, I must part with Whispering Wind, a fine safe and well appointed little trailer sailer (more like a small yacht really) ;) You can see her at this website: http://www.baybroker.com.au/batemans_bayboats-for-sale/used/trailer-boats/investigator-563/161877 During the time I've owned ...

Re: Posts!
Whispering wind is still here in Canberra (in the boat-park you saw Ozzie). I've recently driven to Newcastle and sailed out of there, living on the boat in the Marina for a week whilst I painted our property up there. Not sure what the future holds, could be off OS for several years in December... ...

i563 vital stats plaque
G'Day I'm a forgetful bloke, so I like to have details ready to hand in case I need them. I've designed a vital stats plate for sticking to the internal bulkhead, it's of a size and colour scheme that should make it readable from the Cockpit. Cost will be $19 delivered in about a week (once I order ...

Re: Height above water.
Ozzie I just brought the boat home in preparation for a trip to Newcatsle and took the opportunity to measure; The following are the heights involved: Mast length 7.10m (takes into account 6cm of Masthead light) Mast step height above water line (in my case top of Antifoul): 1.03m Height above water...

An update for the list:
144: Whispering Wind, Canberra (prev of Batemans Bay)
PS, what year was 144 likely to have been built in?
Cheers

Re: Height above water.
G'Day Ozzie I know it's an old thread but I'm seeking the answer as I'm drawing up vital statistics for inclusion on a vessel-info plate that I'll get made and stick on the bulkhead. I recently drove from Canberra to Hawkesbury river and enjoyed a week of sailing in my old stomping ground, a few ove...

Re: Mast raising single handed
Nice work Greg! I use a very similar method; only difference is I use the Main Sheet (blocks and all) transported forward to the bow, attached there and to the forestay, then I do the same as you - I give the mast a heave onto my shoulder and pull on the Main Sheet and keep hauling until the mast is...

Re: Best outboard for an investigator563
G'Day Andrew, I run a Parsun 3.6hp 2 Stroke Long Leg , purchased in Dec from the Aus agent. Because I must be cautious of straining my Back too much I was looking for a motor lighter than my fantastic 6hp 2stroke Yammie. I have thus far been impressed with the Parsun. It has taken me across the Bar ...

What to consider for new sails?
As you may know, I'm about to order new sails, a once in a decade experience, and I was wondering if I should consider adopting anything different from the original design. For instance... Should I consider a fully battened main or some other modern adaptation? I've got quotes for Dacron 'cruising s...
