Looks like it is a good one too. Only trouble is that it is north west of Ballarat. 1800 kms round trip for me.

Re: Deck track needed for genoa?
A rude question on the sails Geoff - how much and where from!

Re: Centreboard maintenance
I think that debate as to whether to moor or trailer comes down to individual circumstances but I am encouraged by Ossie's experience as far as his center board is concerned. In my case my preferred sailing area is an hour's drive away and the ramp is often packed with fishermen, many of whom have n...

Re: Centreboard maintenance
I have just read Andrew's excellent blog on his centerboard and was astounded that his board had square edges! No one has commented on this. Surely this is not the standard board for I563's? Easy to manufacture but very inefficient.

Re: Determining the age of a 563
Thanks for that Ian. The boat has a genoa and a spinnaker which would load the mast up and is getting on so no doubt the reinforcement was warranted. Unless as you said the top may have gone spongy.

Re: Determining the age of a 563
G'day Ozzie From your comments about the windows it looks like the mystery is deepening! I have asked him to pull on the centre board release while someone is underneath to see if it at least moves and to send me some photos. My previous boat was a Farr 6000 so I am unfortunately familiar with the r...

Re: Determining the age of a 563
G'day Ian
Can you please explain to this newboy what the significance is of the "internal mast support frame". I assume you are referring to the circular entrance to the fore peak or is the wooden structure above it not standard?

Thanks for the invite and info Mark. I am at Ulladulla and saw your boat when it was advertised - looked immaculate in the photo.

Re: Determining the age of a 563
Thanks for the info Atles. I have now received a another photo of the boat and it only has one hinge on the front hatch so the 31 number is probably correct so the initial confusion over the age is resolved.
