Re: Trailer repairs

Hi Ian, ozzie I'm bit weak on the fitting stuff, except use measuring callipers to get exact size to buy a fitting or bolt etc. As a young lad got some temporary night shift work in a hot dip galv plant. Operating the acid pre-dip and hot dip galv tank with a mate. The vats are at least 9m long x 2m...

Re: Painting your boat.

Got the non-skid done up forward on Teria. Used the Norglass system. Used a 40mm brush. Blue tape the best (very sharp edge, it's glue good and tape is strong). It's my first go at this type of painting, your advice on forum has been very helpfull. "Do it once and do it right" hopefully. A...

Re: Trailer repairs

Hi Ozzie, if you go for open side channel beams. I would increase the wall thickness to 4mm with 100x50 channel (3mm fine for 100x50 box sections) Open side channels would be easier at hot dip galv plant too, some holes to drill in some corners though. (a pre-visit to galv plant helps get info) If f...

Re: Transducer location

This video tells all about mounting a Garmin striker4 fishfinder transducer (same as my one) inside fishing kayak hull. He uses "duct seal" an HVAC product in the USA i didnt know about (but seems specialist in Aust, none in B's for example) so sticking with kids plasticine for now. https:...

Re: Transducer location

I've removed my Garmin transom transducer and it fits into the forekeel sump ok (left the transducer mount and pivot bolt on transom, incase this experiment fails) Plasticine (modellers clay) was sub $6 for 500g at Office works. (it's oil based should remain supple over time) Have looked online for ...

Re: Mast Footing Fitting

That's good advice Ozzie and Peter, Used my old Duralac (seems to last forever, 30 yrs old?!), safety first though, nitrile gloves. (Bought some "Duralac green" few months ago at BCF, it's supposed to be safer) (however re-discovered the old yellow stuff after that..and didnt open the gree...

Re: Mast Footing Fitting

Hi Luke, I am assuming so. Hopefully someone can chime in who has actually pulled the step off at some stage. Better late than never, I've just removed and refitted my mast step/foot fitting (mast tabernacle). Lukes bolting-through questions remained unanswered. My mast step was through bolted by p...

Re: Transducer location

Hi all, along with all the repairs and modifications I am doing I want to add a plotter and sounder to my vessel and am pondering suitable locations for the transducer. Ideally it would be in front of the keel however that goes too far forward and I have foam filled some of it in anycase and fibre ...
