Gone, but not forgotten!

Sadly, today I parted company with my Investigator. My back has gone again and more surgery is required, and no guarantee that I will be fit to sail in the near future. To that end I decided to sell her rather than have her sitting doing nothing. I am grateful I was able to get one season of her sai...

Re: Beware Mast Foot weakness

Thanks for thst Ozzie, I didnt use any compound and i dont think there was any on prior to my repair, so I am not too concerned.
Got her out on the water twice this week and there is no noticeable difference to performance. So all in all, pretty happy considering.

Re: Relocating from Sydney, help needed urgently

Nice one mate. I recently moved house and didnt have the driveway space for mine. After ringing round storage places, I found the cheapest place was my local sailing club which I joined, got a hardstand for my boat, use of all facilities (4 ramps, 8 wash bays, power for charging battery) and I meet ...

Re: Beware Mast Foot weakness

Yes, I was very lucky. Lesson learnt without too much damage caused, although I have now noticed a crack in the 27MHZ antenna base. Hopefully it is still working, but it is an old one, so not too fussed other than cost. Hopefully, get her out on the water next week, when this awful pommie like weath...

Beware Mast Foot weakness

Let me explain why! Yesterday I went to my boat to tension my rigging correctly after a friend let me borrow his Loos gauge. Having loosened all shroud to change some shackle sizes to give me greater tightning options, I began to tighten the forestay, only to loosen by accident and the bottle sepera...

Re: This small boat is very impressive

Your dead right, Snoop! For me coastal offshore sailing was always the plan and its great to see her perform so well in such conditions. As for beefing her up, the two main things I will/would do to extend her offshore sailing ability is provide further mast step support and seal the cockpit lockers...

This small boat is very impressive

Whilst I have had my Investigator a long time, I have only been sailing her for about 6 weeks. Today, in strong offshore winds, sailing with full main and No.2 jib I pushed her a little harder just off Mandurah's coastline. As can be seen from the track information from my Navionics app, during toda...

Re: Finally, my adventure can begin!

Thanks Ian, i have made an outboard trolley on castors which I wheel under the OB bracket, then I get my 1st mate of the day to help me. It only has to be lifted 30cm. Unfortunately due to my back, there is no chance of sailing single handed. Anyway, got out this morning for a couple of hours, great...

Finally, my adventure can begin!

After 3 long years since I acquired my Investigator, she is finally all but finished after a major refurb, hampered by my glass back and 3 spinal operations. Whilst I face the prospect of further surgery next year, I have managed to get her to the stage of being able to use her, and that I will do, ...
