Re: 563 in Melbourne - $7k

Hi All I'm in the process of cleaning up my Investigator ready for sale. It does need a paint and some fix ups on the keel. Otherwise she is good to go. Basically I have bought a new boat and just don't have the time nor the energy to work on 2 boats. So, she who must be obeyed has ordered me to get...

Re: Running Rigging

Now thats a good idea. Almost like baby stays for mast stepping, in fact I have baby stays that connect to a hound on the mast about 2 metres above the cabin. Easy to setup, so might try them. My mooring is quite exposed and the boat does role a lot. Have thought about dropping the mast but that wou...

Re: Running Rigging

Thanks Ozzie

Yes, thats what I'm after. I will go with wire as its tried and tested method and perhaps an additional forestay.

Re: Running Rigging

Thanks for that Ozzie Had a long chat with Karl at Keeley marine and he thought that just replacing all the stays as is would be OK and wasn't sure that additional stays would be worth it. He asked me whether the inside strands of the snapped stay was "coffee coloured" which it was and rec...

Running Rigging

I've had my boat on a swing mooring for a month or so and during a storm last week a side stay snapped (just inside the swage). The mast ended up over the side. The mast was pulled out of the footing snapping the rivets. Fortunately no other damage resulted. I had noticed that the boat did role quit...

Re: Leaking bilge and centre-plate

Hi Ray

in the end I decided it wasn't worth removing the bolt. I just split some rubber washers and applied lots of sikaflex plus caps. All good, although it seems I have a small issue with water coming through cracks in the cockpit floor (sole) Have done some work on it but more needs to be done.

Re: Leaking bilge and centre-plate

Hi Ray I'm pretty sure water is getting into the bilge through the CB bolt. (There was salt water in both wells - Also is there is a bit of movement in the bolt) I like what you have done and will do the same on the nut side. I would like to do similar on the bolt side but it would mean taking out t...

Re: Leaking bilge and centre-plate

It appears as though I also have a leak through the centre plate- their was more water on the nut side - about a litre after a 4 hour sail. I've read most of the comments and it seems what I need to do is: replace rubber washer, put epoxy around the nut - tape up thread and cover completely with epo...

Anti fouling

As I intend to leave the boat on the water for some time over summer - One month at Wyndam harbour - then possibly more time on a swing mooring at Blairgowie the need for anti fouling has raised its head. My boat has been previously anti fouled which has mostly come off. While I believe that wyndham...

Re: are you going to have a sail over Xmas ? 2017

The source of my leak was not in the bilge (I put the boat in the water on Sunday) Another peculiarity of my boat is the cable to the centre board runs horizontally (more or less) to the transom and up through a pipe. Their is a join in the pvc pipes (with a (sleeve with clamps) which had been knock...
