Re: Investigator for sale.
A sad day indeed to have to sell Zoe Amelia, but something that we will all have to face eventually. The truth is that our Investigators will probably outlast us all by many years. At least I hope so. My plan is to teach the grandchildren to sail and give one of them the boat when I no longer need i...

Re: Hull Identification Numbers
Brett, Thanks for sharing your HIN number with the forum. The WA in the number certainly suggests a West Australian boat and the sail logo seems to confirm it. I don't think that the boats constructed in WA have the lift up centreboard, but yours does. Maybe Zephyr travelled to WA from an eastern st...

Hull Identification Numbers
There have been several mentions of HIN numbers in recent threads. A common request of forum members is to try and find out a bit of the history of their Investigator. This is often difficult as the name and registration number of the boats can change over multiple owners. The boat (sail) number is ...

Re: Rudder Repair
Zephyr, There is locking tab on the lower pin that secures the rudder. (It takes some practice to align the rudder when there are waves about.) You should be able to fabricate something to keep the rudder in place. If not, you will need a new lower gudgeon pin. These are difficult to install as you ...

Re: The List
Hi is this the label that might have the boat number on it, I know it doesn't mean much but I'm restoring to as close to original as I can and have a thing for historical details ;). Cheers Brett PS it has catalogue 108 on the sticker. Brett, I have number 108 as Private Eye in SA. Have a look at t...

Re: Investigator in a video clip
Well spotted Greg. I even like the song. The town in the video in Candelo and the boat was at Twofold bay near Eden.
The boat is restless and was last mentioned in this forum for sale in 2015 in Melbourne.
Here is a still from the video. I like the yellow mast.

Re: Newbie Questions
Welcome Brett. You got a bargain with your purchase of Zephyr. Enjoy sailing her. The Z in the HIN looks to be a mistake. Is it clearly stamped as a Z on the plate? Iit is either a transcription error or Z has some other meaning. I couldn’t find a copy of ISO 10087 to find out for sure. 1977 is a li...

Re: The List
Great job :) -. Not sure if Clever Girl is actually 53 though cause don't have original sails :/ Petrus, I already have two boats with number 53, Calaway and Stormtrooper. Why do you think that Clever Girl could be that number as well? (Maybe we have a set of triplets in the family.) Because when I...
