Re: Rain water in bilge mystery

I have just logged in after many months absence. I saw your post. I had the same annoying problem and it turned out to be the aft port locker floor had small cracks on the floor allowing rain water to drain into the bilge. A few litres of water dyed with a few grains of Condies crystals will soon te...

Reply to Ray.

Sorry; got a bit carried away there and did not address your post. No. There was no sail number on the boat when I bought it. I will post an inventory and the boat's history as far as I know it, so perhaps someone will recognise it.

Re: Investigator for sale.

Yes, Ray. The great wheel turns. We never think that universal laws will ever apply to us...but they do! I had immense enjoyment sailing this little boat around the Islands offshore the coast of Mackay. The Investigator is a great little boat, and mine has been a magic carpet. If your plans bear fru...

Investigator for sale.

At the age of 81, I won't be sailing her again so my Investigator is for sale. I have not sailed her for a few years and her condition reflects this. She is a little shabby and needs some work, but she is sound and has loads of gear. I sailed her for years around the coast of Mackay in Central QLD, ...

Re: Lightning

Yes. The theory seems sound...but!?....I have seen photographs that imply that a strike is first presaged by a tiny little feeler first going UP, as if to say "Pick me! Pick me!" ( a bit like a politician at election time, with similar devastating results once the choice is made) It is on ...

Re: Lightning

I have just logged on and read this thread. It's a subject of extreme interest. I was anchored one night with a greasy swell and was woken at 02:00 hours by the loudest thunderclap I have ever heard. It had me out on deck before my eyes were properly open. The lightening flashes and thunderclaps wer...

Re: Has anyone heard of Zoe Amelia?

Thanks for the reply, Peter. It was only a 'long shot' query, but worth a try. Whether my Zoe has a family history, or came from the pound...I still love her:) We have lots of lovely little adventures and she is just the craft for an old codger with time on his hands.

Has anyone heard of Zoe Amelia?

Can anyone help with the history of my boat? I bought her about 6 years ago from a young man who had bought her about a year previously. He in turn had bought her from an elderly chap who sold her because of ill health. It seems he named the boat after his two grand daughters ....Zoe, and Amelia. I ...

Re: Thoughts on port or S/Board sette conversion to kitchen etc

I have been away for a while and upon reading the forum I came across your kitchen post. If it is still of use I would like to share my adaptation. I sail my 563, Zoe Amelia, almost always alone, and have set her up for comfort. I have a slide in set of cupboards that fit into the space of the starb...
