Tricksy in 10-15 knots off Raymond Island last week.

Looking closely, I think the keel does have the fat trailing edge but it is disguised by the gunk on it.

I've always wondered why the keel wasn't extended a bit further aft and tapered to reduce drag in the production boats.

Good topic Atles, Sailing philosophy! I find the Investigator perfect for 2+ day cruises as the time/effort spent preparing and getting away is considerable compared to the small beach craft, it's not really a daysailer unless left rigged up somewhere.
