We are a not-for-profit group, we have no affiliation with any organisation. We do not claim to represent the designer or manufacturers of the boats, but we tip our hats to them!
We don’t exist to ‘ promote’ the Investigator 563, but we probably do anyway. We share ideas and experiences about our boats to help make our ownership and usage of them even better.
The Boat
The Investigator 563 was one of a cluster of trailer sailers designed and built in the 1970’s and 80’s. Around 170 were produced and many are still giving faithful service to their current owners.
Investigators have all the benefits of similar trailer designs, and a few specific features that set them apart. They have a heavy ballast keel which makes them inherently safe, but their all-up weight (including trailer) is only about 1300kgs.
They are a fractional rigged sloop with an overall length of 5.63 metres, or about eighteen and a half feet.
