Hi Pete
I have previously use the hempel on a hood i restored. Found it was a good paint and pompeis boat yard certainly recommends it.
I used a roller only. Used only foam rollers. Mine was a 100mm foam roller. The fur type leave too many pieces behind. Get yourself a packet of rollers (they are rather cheap) and make sure you change the roller as soon as you see signs that the foam is breaking off. I was using 2-3 rollers per coat.
The first coats were pretty thick as I just thinned them as per the directions. I found that by making each coat thinner, it got a better finish. The last coat I thinned to a point that I got probably 4 times the coverage as I did on the first coat.
I found that seemed to work nicely.

So after a fair bit of winching and levering, i finally got my toe rail fitted. Not the easiest job in the world, but i think it came out ok.

Looks good Ron . I agree fitting toerail is not the easiest job but it is worth it in the end . As I think I said somewhere here or TSP it is still the best single improvement I have made to Spritzig II . It also made me more adventurous as I could move around safely during sailing , so in that regard I guess it made me a better sailor ...now I'm just crepe instead of useless :D

Interested in your thoughts after sailing with it.

I got it from ullrich aluminum in princes hwy Springvale.
They had to bring it in from NZ so it took about 3 weeks.
I noticed a place near dandenong just off eastlink I think it was called aluminum extrusions Australia. May be worth a try.
Loving the mod though. Found it has the added benefit of being able to clip fenders to it, and stops dropped items Falling overboard.
